Bath

After another full English breakfast we headed into Bath. We found the Roman Baths where the Romans once walked. We where walking on ancient stone pavements. We saw the sacred spring, the Roman temple and the Roman bath house along with the museum. Noel of course is really happy as we are now seeing some more Roman ruins.

The displays and recreations are done really well and the whole place is very impressive. We had the mandatory photo with the dressed up Roman bloke who was a real character. We decided to have a glass of the hot spa water on the way out which contains 43 different minerals and is meant to have curative properties. It tastes a bit salty and is like warm tap water, not very nice. Hope we don't have tummy problems tomorrow.

After the Roman Baths we went down to the Parade Gardens and took photos along the beautiful Avon. We then had a Cornish pasty for lunch and took an hour boat ride down to Bathhampshire which was really nice and relaxing. The boat took off from the famous and picturesque Pultney Bridge.

We then decided to take the skyline tour the tour bus takes but in the car to see the panoramic views of Bath and thought we would use the National Trust cards my sister lent us to see the Prior Gardens. We got there ok but there is no where to park so very annoyed we headed back to the B&B for a rest before dinner. Why have a tourist attraction and have no where to park? Apparently you can only get there by public transport or walking up a massive hill.(WTF?)

We had dinner again at the local pub Cross Keys which is a really nice old pub with great atmosphere and lovely staff, we then headed back to the B&B. Some how my jeans still fit me, but only just. The B&B is an Edwardian home built in 1910 and the area it is in is a conservation area which has been designated by UNESCO as an area on outstanding natural beauty and I can understand why. The views around here are picture post card and everything I imagined English countryside to be.

Off to Wales tomorrow to see Jean and Bob.
