Actually could of slept in today but we are meeting at 7.30 for breakfast. Richards rich hot chocolate from last night has not gone down well and he is not feeling the best today. Dry toast only for him, shame as they have the best chocolate berlina buns.
Well the good weather couldn't last and it is raining lightly today but that won't stop us. We leave Richard to sleep and take Kathy into central to see the cathedral and castle and have a coffee in the quad.
Richard is looking better by the time we get back so we check out and head to pick up the car. 'The office is closed' Now what? There is a message on the door to go to the central station so back in the cab, luckily it is only a minute away. Get to the Europecar office and there is a line of very unhappy people. One couple storms off telling us all in the line they have no cars. 'great' we stay in the line fending off those who wanted to push in and eventually after about 30 minutes we get to the counter and even though we have booked and paid we are about 4th in line waiting for a car to return. One lady tells us this is normal for Italy. We eventually are told we can go to the airport and get a VW Pasat and they will refund the taxi fare.
Well this has all worked to our favor, the car is French so we won't have to pay the one way fee of 450euro and for the incovinence we won't have to pay the second driver fee of 8 euro a day. All up we save about $850aus so even though we lost 3 hours it was worth it for the saving and the car is an upgrade as well.
We finally made it out the car park and the confusion sets in. We pull over at a servo and got both the navigation systems working. The car had one and Richard had one as well. The two systems agree and we head towards the Italian coast and Nice.
Richard is doing a great job of driving so Kathy and I sat in the back and enjoy the scenery. We have a bit of rain on the journy but we still saw a fair bit of the beuatiful coast line.
We make it to the B&B and are welcomed by Mandy. The villa is amazing and the rooms very nice and good sized rooms.
Mandy makes us a cuppa and gives a couple of suggestions for dinner. We set off with Noel now driving. We don't have to go far down the road and we are in this beautiful little village La Colle. As it is Easter Saturday and it already 8.00pm not much was open. This seens odd as everything was open good friday. We come across a little pizza bar which has a few people in it so we head inside. We have the most delisious pasta dishes made with fresh pasta. The restaurant by the time we left was full, the waitress did a wonderful job on her own serving everyone. I don't think they expected to be that busy.
Back to the B&B for a coffee, Baileys, blogging and chat with our hosts.
Looking forward to seeing Nice tomorrow.
Bon nuit
