Nice

After great nights sleep we went downstairs and had a wonderful breakfast of cereal, croissant toast and pastries, coffee and oj. We decided to go into the centre of Nice and walk along the promenade and as the sun was back out today this turned out to be fantastic. We get into town with the help of a Angelina the sat nav however this doesn't help you park. We finally get a park but now is the challenge of parallel parking. Noel did a great job and got it first time with the help of the cars sensor system. (happy with the car upgrade here). We stop and had a cafe gourmand on the beach and soaked in the sunshine just because we could. There was a triafalon going on so the road along the promenade was closed off which I think made it nicer without the traffic. It was quite surreal to finally be here and sharing it with Kathy.

We walked to the square and found the shopping mall area and strolled along all the shops hunting down erasers to no avail 'I did find a couple of things to purchase'. Noel and i stopped for a drink while Kathy and Richard continued to browse. We catch up with them and We decide to go to the village of La Turbie from where you can get a great view of Monaco and have lunch. We decided not to go in to Monaco as the streets are closed off in preparation for the Grand Prix and this is could be a bit challening for us right hand drivers. This turned out to be a great idea even though it was cloudy in the Alps and felt like winter until it cleared and the sun came out. First we stopped for lunch at the Salle Climatisee where the boys had the biggest calzone you have ever seen and Kathy and I shared a pizza. There are more pizza restaurants here than in Italy.

To Noels Delight there is also a Roman ruin here. The Trophy of Augustus is here and the monument Celabrates the victory of Augustus, the Roman Emperor over the people of the Alps between 25 and 14B.C. We paid our 5euro and climbed up to the trophy and along the way you get the most stunning views of Monaco. the most exciting part for me was an eraser of Augustus.

We head back to the B&B for a rest before dinner and our hosts offer us a wine or beer so we relax in the lounge and catch up on email and blogging with our drinks. Mandy and Louis are great hosts and Louis's brother Jean-Piere invites us to come back anytime and cook him a BBQ.

Tonight we visited the walled city of St Paul, the most visited village in France. From the city you have spectacular views. We stoped for a baguette for dinner then headed back to the B&B.

I have now added photos to facebook.

Au revoir
