The Journey Home

After a fantastic Thai dinner with Lisa we headed back to watch the soccer and Manchester get hammered by Barcelona. We stayed up for a while but not too late as we have to be up at 5.00am to take the car back and catch our flight.

Sunday we left the UK a little sad to be leaving but really ready to head home at the same time. The flight to Munich was only 1.5hrs and we had a spare seat between us which gave us a bit more room. We had a hour or so wait in Munich airport so duty free shopping for some new sunnies. Back on the plane for the 12 hour flight to Singapore. Again we managed to score a spare seat between us which gave us a bit more room. The service and food on the flight was excellent but still it was a long hall.

Monday we arrived in Singapore about 6.30am and it is warm and humid and felt great after the last few cold days in the UK. We managed to get into our room straight away instead of the usual 2.00pm checkin which was so good after such a long flight. I was stuffed and spent the day in the room with room service but Noel went out to get a new kite and supplies for the old one.

Tuesday after breakfast we headed out and caught the SIA bus to Orchard Road. Noel looked for books and I bought some 3/4 pants. Even though it's the Singapore Sale I just can't be bothered shopping. I must have jet lag!

After lunch we headed to the Singapore Flyer to the Fish Spa. We both did the fish treatment which is really weird. It feels like tiny shock waves on your legs and tickles on the underneath. The fish loved Noels feet and they just swarmed them. We started on the small fish tank and then moved on to the bigger fish which was even more weird. After the fish treatment Noel had massage and I had a pedicure.

We went to Glutton Bay for dinner which was hawker style food on the river front recommended to us by Jen. We had kweo teow and roti chani which was very nice. After dinner we decided it was such a nice night we would walk along the river back to the hotel which was about a 30 minute walk.

Wednesday we woke at 10 so we quickly got ready and headed to Universal Studios. We started on the Madagascar River ride which was ok, the animals looked really good. We then headed for Jurassic Park. After waiting about 45 minutes we did the river rapids ride. This was really good and lucky we got the ponchos as I would have got soaked. As it was my hair was drenched. We decided to go again and this time we did the singles Riders line and this only took 5 minutes to get on, wished we had seen this the first time.

We decided to have some lunch and then we went on the Revenge of Mummy roller coaster. This was fantastic, it is mostly in the dark so you don't know what is coming up. I must admit I was a bit scarred but in the end it was a great ride.

The rain had started and and thunder storm had moved in so our excuse we didn't do the Battle Star Galactica Roller coasters was they had to shut down because of the storm.

We headed back to the hotel to pack and shower before our 6pm checkout. We went out for dinner along the river and got back in time to be picked up at 8pm for the airport and the final leg of our journey and home to Tyrus and Hudson who we have missed so much.

The flight took off about 45 minutes late due to technical difficulties, enough to be towed back to the gate and call out the engineer but we still took off. This seemed a short flight, only 6.5hours but long enough. We both didn't sleep but we arrived in Adelaide about 8.15am to a bright and sunny day, It's good to be home.

This is the final blog entry for our French Adventure 2011.
